not too tall tale...
Clara Delfina grew up in Northern California and now calls Austin home. She specializes in American Old- Time music teaching and performing.
Born into a musical family, Clara grew up playing both classical violin and fiddle. In her early teens she left classical music to focus on old-time and traditional bluegrass. As a skilled multi-instrumentalist and song-writer, Clara's playing has attracted the attention of people across the world. In just a short time, Clara has become an experienced square dance fiddler and performing artist. Her energy and creativity provide a unique dynamic- giving her the flexibility to dig into archaic tunes as well as experiment with contemporary fiddle. Clara is in the midst of producing an album of traditional and original old-time tunes and songs featuring old Missouri ballads she collected from her own Grandmother.
Clara started teaching fiddle and beginning guitar mid 2016, becoming one of Northern Colorado's most valuable traditional old-time music teachers. She currently gives in-person lessons when she is local, and Skype lessons otherwise. Additionally, she directs the new Children's Program at the Colorado Old- Time Music Festival with the support of the CROMA board.
Now based in Austin, Clara recently released an album with UK based Banjo and Guitar player, Ben Mcmanus. And is now in the process of releasing a solo album backed by an outstanding group of musicians, who will be touring summer of 2018. Additionally, she collaborates occasionally with Fort Collins based Crispy Watkins and with the Gas Can Boys.
